Biographie

Shamsher Khan swam the 200 breaststroke and butterfly at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. Khan was a lifetime soldier in the Indian Army who had to receive a loan from the Army to travel to Melbourne, which he was required to pay back. He served in the Madras Engineer Group and fought in battles against China in 1962 and Pakistan in 1973. Khan served in the Army for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Subedar.
