Biographie

A decent amateur on the road and on the track, Rudi Ceyssens qualified for three track events at the 1984 Olympics. His most memorable performance in Los Angeles, where he aided team mate Roger Ilegems in winning the gold medal in the points race. Ceyssens never turned professional, and retired after the 1985 season. His best performances were three second places in the Belgian track championships (pursuit and omnium), and a second place in the Belgian military championships on the road. He then worked for a meat products company, later taking over his father's job at German building material company Röben Tonbaustoffe. He died suddenly of heart failure at the age of 53.
