Biographie

After learning the game at the notable hockey nursery of Kingston Grammar School, Richard Dodds went on to win the highest honors. He won at Cambridge blue while attending St. Catherine’s College and also played for St. Thomas’s Hospital. After winning an Olympic bronze medal in 1984 and silver medals at the 1986 World Cup and 1987 European Cup, the highlight of his career came when he captained the British team to victory at the 1988 Olympics. Dodds, a mid-field player with Southgate, won 79 caps for England, played 65 times for Great Britain and was awarded the OBE for his services to hockey. He later became a surgeon at St. Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey.
