Niki Stajkovic was a diver who competed in five Olympics from 1972-92, missing only the 1984 Olympics because of injury. He was the first diver to compete at the Olympics over a 20-year span and remains, through 2016, one of only seven divers to compete in five Olympics. He was twice a European springboard medalist, with a silver in 1987 and a bronze in 1981.
Stajkovic was known as a free spirit who promoted high diving. He was a member of the FINA High Diving Committee, and was sporting director for the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series. He was considered a major factor in getting high diving added to the World Championships.
