Biographie

Mike Mooney was from Oyster Bay New York, and raced out of the Seawanhaka Corinthian YC. He served as a crew member to skipper Herman Whiton on the boat Llanoria at the 1948 Olympics. He became much better known as an author, writing five novels, including The Hindenburg in 1972, which became a popular movie starring George C. Scott and Anne Bancroft. Mooney graduated from Princeton University and also served in the US Army. In addition to his own writing, he served for a time as editor of Harper's Magazine.
