Biographie

Mark Witherspoon was a sprinter who ran the 100 metres at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, where he injured his Achilles tendon in the semi-final and failed to qualify for the final. He also competed internationally at the 1987 World Championships, the 1987 World Indoors, where he won silver in the 100, and the 1990 Goodwill Games, where he won bronze in the 100. Witherspoon ran in college at Abilene Christian University, placing fifth in the 200 at the 1984 NCAA Meet. Spoon, as he was known, won the 1987 USA Championship in the 100, placing second in 1990 and 1992, and also finishing second in the 200 at the 1989 nationals.
