Biographie

Born in Rosario, Argentina, to Italian parents who moved back to Italy when he was 3-years-old, Luis Brunetto started out as a basketball player. He was later encouraged to try athletics and jumping events. He came to the fore in 1923 with a 15.15 mark, which made him a medal favorite for the 1924 Olympics. In Paris he recorded 15.425 on his first jump, which would bring him the silver medal, although he had a later foul estimated at 15.70. Brunetto was South American champion in 1924, 1926-27, 1929 and at two championships in 1931. He later worked as an administrator with the post office and as a free-lance accountant.
