Biographie

LaVonna Martin twice competed for the US in the 100 hurdles at the Olympics, winning a silver medal in 1992. Internationally she was a gold medalist in the high hurdles at the 1987 Pan American Games, and won a silver medal in the 60 hurdles at the 1993 World Indoors, and a bronze medal in the 100 hurdles at the 1990 Goodwill Games. Martin was ranked in the world top 10 three times, with a high ranking of #3 in 1992. She was US Champion in the 100 hurdles in 1987 and 1990.

Martin attended the University of Tennessee, where she won the 1987 NCAA title in the high hurdles, finishing second in 1986 and 1988. She later married Canadian Olympic triple jumper Edrick Floreal and competed for a time as LaVonna Martin-Floreal. One of their sons, EJ Floreal, later played basketball at the University of Kentucky.
