Biographie

A three-time Olympic medalist, Katrina McClain won gold at the 1988 and 1996 Olympics, and bronze at Barcelona in 1992. She also won three medals at the World Championships, with golds in 1986 and 1990, and a bronze in 1994. McClain won gold at the 1987 Pan American Games and a bronze at the 1991 Pan Ams. She also won gold medals at the 1986 and 1990 Goodwill Games and silver at the 1985 Universiade.

McClain played in college at the University of Georgia. She was an All-American in 1986 and 1987, and led the Lady Bulldogs to the NCAA final in 1985. In 1987 she was Female Player of the Year in college. Her #32 jersey was retired by the Lady Bulldogs.

After college McClain played professionally overseas, playing with Kyoto Petroleum in Japan from 1989-91, Sidis Ancona in Italy in 1992, Valencia in Spain from 1993-95, and with the Turkish team Galatasaray in 1995-96. McClain, later McClain-Johnson, ended her professional career with the Atlanta Glory of the short-lived American Basketball League (ABL) in 1996-97. McClain-Johnson was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006, and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012.
