Biographie

Kálmán Ihász was a football player from Vasas from the age of 12 until his retirement. As a defender, he played 363 league matches and scored 19 goals. With Vasas, he won four Hungarian Championships, three Mitropa Cups, and one Hungarian Cup title. With the national team, Ihász won both an Olympic gold medal and a European Championship bronze medal in 1964, and he was nominated for the 1962 and 1966 World Cups, but did not play. Ihász played 27 times for the national team, finishing his career in 1974.

Although Ihász graduated from the College of Physical Education, he stopped focusing on football after his retirement. He first trained the reserve team at Vasas for a year, but then opened a fashion shop in downtown Budapest. In 2006, Ihász became a member of the newly formed Vasas Advisory Board. In 2008, one of the pitches of the Vasas football coaching center was named after him. In 2011, he became an honorary citizen of the XIII. district of Budapest, and in 2013 he received the Vasas Lifetime Achievement Award.
