John Peers stands out as one of Australia’s most successful doubles tennis players, boasting a gold medal from the Paris 2024 Olympics, a bronze at Tokyo 2020 and two Grand Slam doubles titles.
John is also a three-time Olympian and has won over two dozen ATP doubles titles in his career. He reached his career-best rank of world No. 2 in 2017.
He is a fan of tennis legend Roger Federer and enjoys golf, surfing, AFL and cricket when he is not competing.
Born on July 25, 1998, John Peers comes from a family of tennis players. His mother Elizabeth Little competed thrice at the Australian Open and once each at the Wimbledon and US Open. John’s sister Sally, meanwhile, has featured in all four Grand Slams.
Inspired by his mother, John Peers began playing tennis at a young age on the backyard court of his family home. During his high school years, he made a name for himself by leading Mentone Grammar School in Melbourne to two premierships.
John won his first ITF junior doubles title in New Caledonia in 2005, followed by his maiden ITF Futures Pro Circuit singles and doubles titles in Venezuela in 2011. Meanwhile, he also played college tennis at Middle Tennessee State University (2008-10) and Baylor University (2011).
