Biographie

John Marshall graduated from Harvard in 1963. He won the North American 505 championship in 1969 but three years were to pass before his Olympic success. At the 1972 Olympics he crewed with Charles Horter on the boat skippered by Don Cohan. Marshall has also been very active in America’s Cup sailing. In 1974 he sailed as a crew member on the Intrepid during the trials, although she was not chosen to defend. In 1977, Marshall crewed for Lowell North on the Enterprise although again the boat failed to be picked as the defender In 1980, Marshall was a part of the successful crew aboard Freedom. Marshall was in charge of the sail inventory and the trimming of the mainsail that year. As president of Lowell North’s company North Sails, it was a job for which he was well suited.
