Jesús Gruber had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1959 Pan American Games foil team (with Freddy Quintero and the non-Olympians Óscar Cabrera and Antonio Gómez), 3rd in the 1963 Pan American Games foil team (with Augusto Gutiérrez, Nelson Nieves, and the non-Olympian Luis Rigoberto).
