Starting to box with ZWM Zryw Łódź in 1946, Jerzy Krawczyk competed in the Olympic qualifying tournament for the 1948 Games, but failed to win. He moved to Gdańsk in 1950 and started fighting for Gwardia. He quickly improved, winning Polish titles in the lightweight and light-middleweight. In 1952 he first competed in an international match for Poland, eventually participating in seven matches (1952-1953). Although his Olympic appearance was brief, his career record is positive, with 198 wins, 5 draws and 19 losses. Krawczyk later became manager of several restaurants in Gdańsk.
