Biographie

Jan Palouš’s career began playing bandy with Akademicky SK in 1908, but he later joined České Sportovni, playing with them mostly through 1922. He also was with SK Slavia Praha in 1911-12, 1913-14, and finished his career with them in 1922-25. Palouš played for Bohemia at the 1911-13 European Championships and for Czechoslovakia at the 1921-22 Europeans, winning a gold medal in 1922 and a silver in 1921. He played ice hockey at the 1920 Olympics and the 1924 Winter Olympics, winning a bronze medal in 1920. He started out his career in bandy and ice hockey as a rover, but later played defense. Palouš was known for promoting hockey, and he wrote two books on the games – Musketyri s hokejkou (1955) and S hokejkou po svete (1956). He was also a film director between 1914-18.
