Biographie

Jim Barrineau was a high jumper for the University of Georgia and the Georgia TC. He was Southeastern Conference champion in 1976-77. Barrineau finished second to Dwight Stones at the 1976 NCAA Meet. He had a long career for the era, competing in the 1983 Pan American Games (finishing fourth) and the Universiade, and the Olympic trials in 1980 and 1984.

Barrineau became a career military officer, retiring in 2005 with the rank of colonel. He continued to high jump, competing in masters’ meets, setting several age group records and winning multiple titles.

Personal Best: HJ – 2.30 (7-6½) (1983).
