Biographie

Ilmar Aluvee took up Nordic Combined in 1977 and a decade later rose to be one of the top Estonians in the sport. At the Estonian SSR and Estonian championships, Aluvee won individual Nordic Combined gold in 1992, individual silver in 1991 and 1997, individual bronzes in 1988, 1994, 1995 and 1998, team bronze in 1988, individual ski flying bronze in 1996 and team ski flying bronze in 1988. Internationally Aluvee competed at four major international tournaments – the 1994 Olympics and the 1993, 1995 and 1997 World Championships, his best finish being 31st in individual Nordic Combined in 1995. After his competitive retirement in 1998, Aluvee worked as a Nordic Combined coach in Estonia, serving as the head coach of the Estonian national team from 2002-04. He was also a board member of the Estonian Skiing Federation from 2008-11. In 2005 he started work as a cell tower building specialist with Eltove OÜ and died in 2013 in a workplace accident, when he was hit by a broken cell tower element and fell from the tower.
