Biographie

Hagbart Håkonsen was an excellent skier, but was never able to win a major event, placing second and third several times. At Holmenkollen he placed third in the 50 km cross-country in 1922 and 1928, and second in Nordic combined in 1926 and 1927. At the Norwegian Championships he placed second in the 30 km in 1923 and 1924, and third in Nordic combined in 1925. Born in Grue in southeastern Norway, he moved to Oslo in his youth to find better training facilities for skiing. He was a waxing specialist, and developed a ski wax called Ha-Gli which was still in use in the 1960s. Håkonsen worked as a ski maker and also ran a little sport shop in Lommedalen, outside Oslo, until his retirement.
