Biographie

Rowing out of the sixth seat for the University of Washington eight, George Hunt shared in victories in 1936 at the IRAs (Intercollegiate Rowing Association), and the Olympic Games. After graduation he worked for a construction firm until World War II when he used his engineering degree as a Seabee in the South Pacific. He later co-founded a construction company in Seattle, Collins-Hunt Construction. He eventually left that company to form George E. Hunt Construction, which specialized in commercial buildings. He built the Burien Library and the Lemieux Library at Seattle University and was the main contractor for the Carmelite Monastery. Before retiring, Hunt worked for the Port of Seattle’s engineering department.
