Biographie

Fred Dixon won the AAU decathlon in 1977 and was second in the 1975 Pan American Games decathlon. In 1977 he won the USA vs USSR and Canada meet with 8,393 points, making him the third-highest performer ever to that time. He competed thru the 1984 Olympic Trials, but injuries caused him to be well past his best, although he won the Mt. SAC Relays decathlon earlier that year, having also won at Mt. SAC in 1980. Dixon was world-ranked #1 in 1977 and #2 in 1975 by Track & Field News. Dixon graduated from Cal State Los Angeles in 1972.
