Born to immigrant parents from Scotland and Ireland, Eddie O’Toole was AAU 6-mile/10K champion in 1946-48. In the 3-miles he finished fourth in 1946. He competed for Manhattan College and the NYAC. O’Toole later worked as a buyer for JC Penney. He also worked as an official at the Millrose Games and other track & field events in the New York area. O’Toole died suddenly from a heart attack. His obituary noted that he was survived by 11 sons and 4 daughters.
