Duncan MacDonald was a distance runner for Stanford, Tiger International, Athletics West, and the Mid-Pacific Roadrunners. After his 1976 Olympic participation in the 5K, he won the AAU 25 km. in 1977-78. He represented the US at the 1977 Universiade (5,000) and at the 1980 International Cross-Country. A Hawai’i native, he returned there to coach track at Punahou High School. His daughter, Pippa, also became a middle-distance runner at Cal Berkeley.
Personal Bests: 1500 – 3:40.9 (1972); Mile – 3:59.6 (1970); 2 miles – 8:19.9 (1976); 5000 – 13:19.40 (1976); 10000 – 28:38.01 (1982); Marathon – 2-12:50 (1983).
