Biographie

Dave Littell has had an itinerant sports career. He started as a fencer, was a junior national champion, and earned All-American honors at the University of Illinois. But he quit fencing before his senior year, and actually dropped out of school to pursue a tennis career and work as tennis coach. He abandoned that career in 1978, enrolling at Northwestern to complete his college degree, which he did. He then studied at Boston University Law School.

In 1983, after graduating again, Littell joined Paul Tanker & Associates in Philadelphia, a pension consulting firm. In January 1984, looking for some sports action, he returned to fencing, taking up the sport again after a 10-year hiatus. He made the 1987 US Pan American team, winning a bronze medal in team foil and then made the 1988 US Olympic team. After a short second fencing career, Littell turned to coaching junior fencers. He also served as head fencing coach at Haverford College from 2001-07.
