Christof Duffner started ski jumping at the age of 11. Together with East German’s André Kiesewetter he was one of the first German ski jumpers to use the V-style. Duffner won a gold medal in the team competition at the Lillehammer Olympics. His best victory was winning the Oberstdorf event in the 1992-93 Four Hills Tournament. He helped Germany to a bronze medal in the team event at the 1997 World Championships. Although Duffner wanted to retire during the 1998-99 season, he was nominated for the World Championships by the national coach Reinhard Heß, and won a gold medal in the team competition, finally retiring in 2004. Duffner later made his living as a teacher and youth coach.
