Biographie

In addition to his two Olympic participations, Bishop Dolegiewicz was a silver medalist in the shot put at the Pan American Games in 1975 and 1979, and won a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games in 1978. He was also a five-time Canadian Champion in the shot put (1976-77, 1979, 1982-82), and was Canadian discus champion in 1975 and finished fourth in the discus at the 1975 Pan American Games. He later became a coach, first at the University of Saskatchewan and later at Southern Utah University. At the Dubin Inquiry in 1989, Dolegiewicz admitted to steroid use and also admitted to supplying athletes with steroids, which cost him his job at the Univ. of Saskatchewan. He did tell the inquiry that he regretted using steroids because of the toll it had taken on his mind and body. He died from cardiac and circulation problems.

Personal Bests: SP – 20.83 (1978); DT – 65.32 (1975).
