Biographie

Ben Amonette was a pistol shooter who competed at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, in air pistol and free pistol both times. He shot international pistol for 20 year while a sergeant in the US Army Reserve. Amonette earned a Distinguished Service Pistol badge in 1980 and a Distinguished International Pistol Badge in 1985. Later in his career he switched to rifle shooting and earned his Distinguished Rifleman Badge in 2008. At the 1991 Pan American Games, Amonette won silver medals in free pistol and air pistol. In 1995 he won six medals at the Pan Ams, including golds in team air pistol and team standard pistol.

Amonette graduated from Radford University in 1979 with a degree in business management. In 1994 he added an associate degree from New River Community College in machine gunsmithing. He worked for many years as a consumer services manager at Alliant Powder.
