Biographie

Competing in an era dominated by such great hurdlers as Jack Davis, Harrison Dillard, and Dick Attlesey, Art Barnard never really came close to winning a major championship. His highest placing was third in the 1951 NCAA while attending Southern Cal. After finishing fifth at the 1952 AAUs he surprisingly improved to third place at the Olympic Trials, beating both Anderson and Dixon, who had finished ahead of him at the AAUs. In Helsinki, after a poor start, he finished third behind Harrison Dillard and Jack Davis.

Personal Best: 110H – 14.1y (1952).
