Antonio Amada was a three-time Mexican Olympian in the modern pentathlon, competing in 1952, 1956, and 1960. Amada also competed in fencing at the 1960 Roma Olympics. Almada was a member of the Mexican Army, serving as a First Cavalry Captain.
Almada won three medals at the Pan American Games in team pentathlon, taking gold in 1955 and bronze medals in 1959 and 1963. He also won two medals in fencing at the Central American and Caribbean Games. He won team épée gold in 1959, and added a bronze that year in individual épée.
