Biographie

Anat Ratanapol was one of Asia's leading sprinters in the 1970-ies. In his first international big meet, the Asian Games 1970, he won 2 gold medals, 200 m and 4×100 m, and silver in the 100 m. This was the start of an impressing international career. In the Asian Championships 1973 he won both 100 and 200 m (running a lifetime best of 20.8 in the semi final), and he repeated his gold medals in the 1974 Asian Games and the 1975 Asian Championships. In total he won two relay and seven individual gold medals in Asian Championships or Games. He was a 4×100 m team member at the Olympics both in 1972 and 1976, in Montréal he also ran the 100 m and qualified for the second round. He ended his long sprint career at the age of 32, placing 4th in 100 m at the 1979 Asian Championships.
