In 1948, Allen Stack finally removed Adolph Kiefer's 12-year-old 200 m backstroke world record from the books. Stack set a total of six world records, won 10 AAU titles, and was a double gold medal winner at the 1951 Pan American Games - 100 metre backstroke and 3×100 metre medley (with Bowen Stassforth and Dick Cleveland). After Yale, he attended Columbia Law School and later practiced law in Honolulu.
