Biografía

Bill Clay was a track sprinter who competed at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, but went out in an early round of the match sprint. Clay began cycling at age 15 and first competed internationally in 1991, at age 17. He competed at the 1992 US Olympic Trials, when he was only 18, but failed to make the team. In 1995 he won a bronze medal at the World Track Championships in the Olympic Sprint and won a Grand Prix event in Trinidad. In 1996, before the Olympics, he won a World Cup title in Cottbus, Germany.

Clay graduated from Marian College in Indianapolis, Indiana. He later studied economics at Barat College and then worked at CDW Corporation, before joining LG Corporation as a channel sales manager for national accounts.
