Wally Zagurski was a lightweight weightlifter at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. He competed for the York Oil Burner Athletic Club. He was an original member of the club, and became famous as one of the first men to bent press the famous 202 lb. (92 kg) Louis Cyr dumbbell, which is still housed at the York Barbell Hall of Fame. Zagurski was AAU Champion in 1933 at 165 lbs. (75 kg).
Zagurski was born in Lithuania but came to the US as a youth. He was featured on the first cover of Strength and Health magazine in December 1932, and was the first editor of the renowned US weightlifting magazine.
