Biografía

A Ukrainian, Viktor Matviyenko was a defender who won a bronze medal with the Soviet team at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. He earned 21 caps in his career, winning the UEFA Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in 1975. Matviyenko won the Soviet League in 1971, 1974-75, and 1977, and the Soviet Cup in 1974. He played for FC Metalurh Zaporizhya, SKA Odessa, FC Dynamo Kyiv, with whom he had his greatest success from 1970-77, and FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

Matviyenko later became a well-known football manager. He worked first as an assistant with Avanhard Rivne, but them became head manager of Avanhard from 1980-82 and 1985. He later managed Orlęta Łuków (Poland), FC Podillya Khmelnytskyi, FC Torpedo Zaporizhia, FC Bukovyna Chernivtsi, CS Tiligul-Tiras Tiraspol, FC Torpedo Zaporizhia, FC Dustlik, and finally FC Stal Alchevsk as an assistant, in a career that lasted from 1991-2002.
