Biografía

Veikko Lahti took up wrestling in 1942 when he was 16-years-old. Equally strong at both styles of wrestling, Lahti was slightly more successful internationally in Greco-Roman, while domestically he had more success in freestyle. In Greco-Roman Lahti won his only major international tournament medal, when he won silver in light-heavyweight at the 1955 World Championships. Lahti also competed at the 1952 and 1956 Olympics, but was eliminated after the third round in Greco-Roman light-heavyweight in 1956 and after the second rounds in freestyle middleweight in 1952 and freestyle light-heavyweight in 1956. Domestically Lahti won six Finnish titles – 1954-57 in freestyle light-heavyweight, in 1956 in Greco-Roman light-heavyweight, and 1958 in freestyle middleweight. By profession, Lahti was a policeman.
