Biografía

Tim Bright was world-class in both the pole vault and decathlon. He represented the US in the decathlon at the 1984 Olympics and the 1987 World Championships, and in the pole vault at the 1985 Universiade. He won the TAC decathlon championship in 1987 and was US pole vault champion in 1991-92. In the pole vault he was second at the 1989 World Cup and third at that event in 1985. He also placed third in the vault at the 1990 Goodwill Games. In the decathlon, Bright set the decathlon world’s best for the pole vault, clearing 5.51 at Fresno in March 1986, and then with his 5.70 at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, a mark bettered only in 1996 by Jean Galfione of France. Bright went into coaching, serving at Concordia University in Oregon and later Lewis & Clark College.
