Biografía

Siggi Wentz belonged to the golden era of West German decathletes of the 1980s. He won the bronze medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics behind Daley Thompson and his teammate, Jürgen Hingsen, but ahead of his other teammate, Guido Kratschmer. Wentz also claimed a bronze medal at the 1983 Worlds and a silver in 1987. In 1982, 1986 and 1990 he participated in the Europeans, winning another bronze in 1986. He was West German decathlon champion in 1983 and 1985, and in 1986 won the 110 hurdles at the nationals. In 1983 and 1986 he set two indoor heptathlon world records.

Wentz studied medicine (orthopedic surgeon, sports medicine, and chiropractic) and in 2000 became head physician at the Schlüsselbad-Klinik in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach / Black Forest. His son Jonas was a nationally successful long, high and triple jumper.
