Biografía

Bob Stout competed in gymnastics in high school in Philadelphia and later went to Temple University, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree in education, and a masters’ degree. He competed in traditional international gymnastics and turners competitions. Stout won AAU titles in all-around in 1952-53, floor exercises in 1949 and horizontal bar in 1952. At Temple he won an NCAA title on floor in 1948, and won the Eastern Intercollegiates all-around and parallel bars in 1947-49. In 1950 at the National Turner Championships, Stout won the horizontal bar, flying rings, and tumbling. After his competitive days ended, Stout became a teacher and also coached and judged gymnastics, co-founding the Junior High School Gymnastics League in Philadelphia. He was inducted into the Temple University Hall of Fame in 1974. He was inducted into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1976.
