Biografía

Competing for Villanova, Phil Reavis won the NCAA high jump in 1956. In 1957 he was the AAU indoor champion in the high jump. At the outdoor AAU meet Reavis placed sixth in 1956 and second in 1957. After graduating from Villanova, Reavis taught briefly and then started coaching track, especially overseas. He coached in Cambodia and then Vietnam, although he had to leave when that country became too politically hot in the mid-1960s. He later returned to Laos where he coached track and taught history and English.

Reavis returned to the States and studied immigration in the Black Studies department at the University of Minnesota. He and his wife then returned to the Far East, taking up jobs teaching English to Chinese students at a Catholic school in Macau, with Phil Reavis coaching, which they did for over 30 years.

Personal Best: HJ – 2.08i (6-10i) (1956).
