Biografía

Ottar Satre was one of five Satre brothers that emigrated from Norway between 1928-29. He settled in Salisbury, Connecticut where he and his brother, Magnus, competed for the Salisbury Outing Club. Between 1930-35, Ottar Satre won 17 ski jumping meets, and was a two-time National Champion, also winning a US title in cross-country at 18 km in 1935, earning the Gale Cotton Burton Memorial Trophy. In 1930, Satre won the Beck International Trophy as the top US skier internationally. He retired from competition in 1950 but continued to coach young skiers in the Salisbury area. He was inducted into the US Ski Hall of Fame in 1971, his brother, Magnus, having been inducted in 1963.
