Biografía

Miklós Sárkány played 60 matches for the Hungarian national team. After his gold medal in Los Angeles in 1932 he won his second gold medal at Berlin in 1936 as one of the few Jewish athletes who were successful there. In addition, he won three European titles (1931, 1934 and 1938) and three Hungarian titles (1929, 1939, 1941). After World War II Sárkány coached the Hungarian national team from 1945-47 and until 1958 was head of Újpest Budapest, leading the team to five Hungarian Championships (1948, 1950-52, 1955). In 1958 he went to Germany and was the head coach of the West German water polo team in 1968-73, after which he lived in Wien (Vienna) until his death.
