Biografía

Mark Croghan was a steeplechaser who ran that event at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics, with a best finish of fifth in 1996. Croghan also competed at the World Championships in 1993 and 1997, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. He ran in college at The Ohio State University, winning the NCAA steeple title in 1990 and 1991. Croghan was a five-time USA Champion in the steeplechase, winning in 1991, and 1994-97. He also finished second at the nationals in 1990, 1992-93, and 2000.

After his competitive days ended, Croghan turned to coaching. He had coached distance runners at Ohio State in 1991-93, while still competing, and later became the head coach at the University School in Hunting Valley, Ohio from 2001-06, and in 2007 was named head cross-country and assistant track coach at Kent State University. Croghan was inducted into The Ohio State University Hall of Fame in 1999, the Ohio Association of Cross-Country Coaches Hall of Fame in 2007, and the Summit County Hall of Fame in 2009.
