Kyösti Luukko was the best Finnish freestyle middleweight wrestler in the 1930s. The high point of his career was the 1932 Olympics, where he won a silver medal. Luukko also competed at the 1936 Olympics, where he was sixth, and won bronze at the 1931 European Championships. Domestically, Luukko won nine Finnish titles: in 1931-33 and 1936 in freestyle middleweight, in 1935, 1937 and 1938 in freestyle light-heavyweight and in 1928 and 1933 in Greco-Roman light-heavyweight. Luukko worked as a farmhand.
