Biografía

Jane Fauntz of the Illinois Women’s AC was knocked down by a car six months before the Olympic trials and the radial nerve in her right arm was severely injured. She recovered, qualified for the US team and made her Olympic debut as a breaststroke swimmer in 1928 when she was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 200m event in Amsterdam. After deciding to specialize in diving she won the AAU indoor title off the 1-metre board in 1929 and 1930. However, she never completely deserted swimming for diving and in 1929 she won the AAU outdoor 100y breaststroke. She would later marry Edgar “Eggs” Manske, a wide receiver with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears in the NFL. Manske was a member of the Bears that won the 1940 championship match with a record 73-0 score over Washington
