Known as “The Gentle Giant,” Harry Geris’s family immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands when he was a small child. He wrestled in three Olympics for Canada, and in 1975 competed in both freestyle and Greco-Roman at the Pan-American Games, winning a bronze medal in freestyle unlimited class. Geris wrestled collegiately at Oklahoma State University in the United States. He later had a career in insurance but also made his living supplying wrestling equipment for tournaments. He also served as a volunteer wrestling coach.
