Biografía

George Simpson became the first man to run the 100y in 9.4 when he took the first leg of his sprint double at the 1929 NCAA championships. Although this was a valid clocking, the mark was not recognized as a world record because Simpson used starting blocks, which had not then been approved by the IAAF. Apart from his 1929 double, Ohio State's Simpson won both the AAU and NCAA 220y in 1930. Before winning his silver medal in the 200 m at the 1932 Olympics, he placed fourth in the 100 m.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.54 (1932); 200 – 21.1 (1931).
