Biografía

A member of the Sno Birds of Lake Placid, Frank Tyler’s only national championship came on a 4-man sled at the 1941 AAUs. On that team was Bill D’Amico, and seven years later, Tyler and D'Amico were accompanied by Pat Martin and Ed Rimkus as they won the 4-man gold medal. Tyler worked in Lake Placid until the 40s as a policeman and then became an insurance adjuster. In 1952 he lost his amateur status because he had sponsored an advertised product so instead he went to the 1952 Olympics as the bobsled coach. In 1956 at Cortina, he was the U.S. bobsled team manager but was ill during most of the Games with a terrible flu and less than two months after the Olympics, he was dead of a heart attack.
