Éric Le Chanony competed with the French national bobsleigh team from 1990-2000, winning a bronze medal at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics in the four-man, along with Bruno Mingeon, Emmanuel Hostache and Max Robert. The highlight of his bob career was at the 1999 World Championships, when Le Chanony rode on the same four-man sled that won a gold medal at Cortina d’Ampezzo. The team also won the 2000 European title, and he also won a bronze medal at the 1995 Worlds in Winterberg with Éric Alard.
