Biografía

Enzo Sacchi was the world’s top track sprinter in the early 1950s. He came to the Helsinki Olympics as the favorite in the match sprint, having won the World title in 1951, which he would repeat again after winning Olympic gold. He had also won sprint Grand Prix races in 1951 in København and Paris.

Sacchi turned professional and competed as a pro through 1964, with multiple teams, but starting for several years with the Italian Lygie team. He was second at the professional sprint World Championships in 1953 and 1958, and third in 1954. He won the Grand Prix de Paris in 1954 and 1959. Sacchi also raced six-days, winning titles in that discipline in Buenos Aires in 1960 and Perth in 1962.
