Biografía

Elio Locatelli was a speed skater and sports manager. He graduated from ISEF (Higher Institute of Physical Education) in Torino in 1966, after having participated in two editions of the Olympic Winter Games as a speed skater (1964 and 1968). He then started a coaching career that led him to discover and support talents, the best known being Giovanni Evangelisti, winner of the long jump bronze medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Locatelli was director of national athletics teams at the turn of the 1980s-90s and then, more recently, in 2017-18. He then moved to the IAAF where he worked as director of development. He was also a soccer consultant for Juventus FC from 1995-99, and he also served as director of performances for the Italian Athletic Federation.

Personal Bests: 500 – 40.9 (1968); 1000 – 1:25.8 (1969); 1500 – 2:12.3 (1969); 5000 – 8:28.8 (1964); 10000 – 17:47.8 (1964).
