Biografía

Cyclist Edi Ziegler was part of the German road race team that finished fifth at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, but individually he won the bronze medal. More significantly, he prevented a Belgian medal clean sweep when he outsprinted Lucien Victor over the last few metres. André Noyelle and Robert Grondelaers had taken gold and silver. Ziegler won seven German Championships in the road team time trial between 1948 and 1956 and was the national road race champion in 1953. He raced as a professional from 1957-59. Ziegler was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1952.
